The last time I had a meal

Was in a brief but blissful dream

Noises from the busy bridge

Awoke me to reality

There you stood with a pleasant grin

To bless my day with food and drink

For giving this famished face a smile

You will always be my Valentine

As you walked along a lonely road

You saw me shivering in the cold

There was no other place to go

For a pauper, widowed and old

You stopped by with your heart of gold

Covered me with your furry coat

For the spice you added to my life

You will always be my Valentine

Be it a legend or a lie

That a certain saint for love did die

Nothing compares to the joy derived

From little deeds of sacrifice

Whether or not you have a wife

Or a man to look into your eyes

Love is the balm that our world craves

Be someone's Valentine each day

Even in the gutters of life
When it seems you'd never rise

Like you’re swimming in a tide

And your fears are getting high

Shift your gaze into the sky

Have those darlings ceased to fly?

Through the darkness of the night

Did the stars refuse to shine?

Though situations be so tight

Should they twist away your smile?

Should the answers you can’t find

Flood your lovely heart with bile?

Sometimes worrying seems so right

But it never makes things right

Should your tears forever flow

They won’t roll those fears away

So in the spectrum of this light

I hope you’d find the strength to fight

Like the birds fly in the sky

Like the stars that shine so bright

Like this pen will always write

Beacons of hope that never die
